What is MetaChain Layer?
MetaChain allows the development of fast, scalable, and secure decentralized applications (dApps) on its permissionless, open-source, EVM-compatible layer. With the support of DeFiChain, MetaChain aims to enable smart contracts for Bitcoin, separating the core blockchain from the services on top and facilitating faster innovation.
MetaChain started as a codename for research and development - DFIP 2111-B: VOC: Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) Support. Proposed as a DFIP in November 2021; DFIP 2111-B provides DeFiChain with more flexibility to think beyond what is possible today. It introduced a new dimension to the DeFiChain ecosystem, allowing us to stretch the definition of native cross-chain interoperability.
MetaChain is:
Decentralized, anyone can set up their Masternodes on the native DeFiChain layer and vote on proposals even if they do not have a Masternode.
Permissionless, anyone can build smart contracts on MetaChain.
Open-source, people are free to contribute to the betterment of MetaChain
